The Friends organized planting along both the Park View Academy and Keston Centre fences.
Park
View Academy boundary fence, birch whip screening. This shows the
community planting day in November for this Making a Difference
project.. Park View Academy and Downhills Primary school pupils also
helped with the planting for Clean Sweep Week. Some 900 birch whips were
planted in three staggered rows to soften the industrial metal fence
with pleasant greenery.

Below: David Macdonald replanting Keston Centre fence with Spotted
Laurels, December 2007. Update May 2008: only four of the shrubs
now remain after Parks Dept grasscutters recently mowed down the rest
of the small shrubs by mistake. Replacement shrubs are being requested
from Parks Dept. Very disheartening.
